One of the things I love about being a portrait photographer is that I get to document family changes. I love weddings, because I get to record two families and communities come together to support and celebrate the creation of a new family unit. Seniors are amazing because I get to a record a moment in time that shows that very unique point in a young person's life that is full of possibility, accomplishment and confidence and fear.
A new baby is another occasion I am often invited to participate in. Your family has changed forever. Sometimes it's changed because it's no longer just you and your spouse and you have welcomed your first child into the world. Often it's a second or third child being born and your older child(ren) receives the blessing of a brother or sister. Being an only child, this is one of the most fascinating portraits to me - I love seeing that tenderness that a proud older brother or sister will often display when they are asked to hold to or cuddle the newest addition to the family. This was one of those sweet sessions - Jackson was so soft and gentle with his new baby brother. The entire time this family was in the studio you could feel the love!
Newborn sessions are best when the baby is less than 10 days old - the younger the better! If you are interested in newborn portraits it is important to call and arrange your portrait session before your baby arrives!
