Well prom has come & gone at our house and we all survived. All I can say is thank goodness we have a guy, I can't imagine how expensive it would be to get a girl ready for prom!
Between the haircut, the man-scaping (eyebrows), the dress socks, tux rental, the flowers, the dinner, the prom tickets & getting the car ready we were broke! I guess it's a good warm up for the famously expensive "Senior Year."
Erik was junior this year so it was his first prom. He had some of his friends stop by to get portraits taken. We ended up having four kids getting ready at the house. It was so much fun!
I rented Erik's tux from Carol G's - and they were delightful -even when we returned it (I'll get back to that in a minute...) We ordered flowers from Aletha's. I love going to Pam at Aletha's because she has been in business for years and you know that you are getting a high quality product and years of experience, plus she and her staff are just so darn sweet!
So the Monday after prom I decided to have Erik put his tux back on for some portraits in the studio. As I am helping him on with his jacket he casually mentions that there was a little incident with the tux.
"What kind of incident?", I ask trying not to sound concerned.
"A super glue incident." he offers without hesitaion.
"A SUPER GLUE INCIDENT!?" I start to lose my cool.
"It was an accident", he insists.
I should not recount the rest of this conversation......But I will say that his date's purse spilled and like a gentleman he helped pick up the contents which included a tube of nail glue aka super glue which had been stepped on and was leaking.
At any rate I was dreading taking the suit back. I was embarassed. They had been so nice to us, making sure Erik had a suit that would look great on him. I walked in and plunked the credit card down with the suit, informing them that while he looked great in the suit he had ruined the pants & jacket with super glue. I cannot even tell you how relieved I was to find out they had insured his suit against such an accident. I guess they have been dealing with teenage boys longer than I......
